"You Raise Me Up"

Where you can find this

You can find this particular song on Josh Groban's album, "Closer." The album features "You Raise Me Up" and "Broken Vow." The song "Broken Vow" is also available on "Josh Groban: In Concert." Personally, I find the live rendition of this song very beautiful mainly because of the piano and violins playing along. In the in-studio version, those things are absent.

Albums You Can Find These Songs

You can find "Canto Alla Vita," " For Always," and "Alejate" on his album "Josh Groban: In Concert." This particular album has a nice, if small, collection of songs in English, Spanish and Italian. There is also a bonus song ("O Holy Night") that you can't find anywhere else (as far as I know, I've yet to check) on his album. If you're into this kind of music, then this is it.

"For Always"

Favorites

Josh Groban happens to be, at least in my opinion, the greatest singer there is out there in the music world. He has an amazing voice and I'm glad that he's not wasting such a gift given to him. Oh, just listen to me gush...I could probably go on all day about how amazing he is. What about his songs? Isn't what this hub is all about, right? Right. Without further ado, here is my list of favorite songs.

  1. You Raise Me Up

"You Raise Me Up" has to be my top favorite song. It's uplifting and inspiring. If one was to interpret this song, it could be interpreted as some kind of song based on faith and religion. Minus the religion part, I have always interpreted it as a faith-based song. This song always cheers me up when I'm down in the dumps. This is one song I would totally recommend listening to if, like I said, one is down and feeling blue.

2. Broken Vow

"Broken Vow" is another favorite of mine. I listened to the one in concert and it was amazing (which is this particular video). This is a good break-up song if anybody sees it that way. I sure don't. It's been a little while since I dated anybody, but this is a good song that I would recommend to anybody. You can feel the heartbreak behind Josh's words as he sings them out to the world. If anybody wants to skip to the song, go to 3:30 on the video (I forgot that there was additional stuff--like introductions of several key characters involved with Josh's songs--in the video).

3. Canto Alla Vita

"Canto Alla Vita" is a pretty good song if you understand Italian. Since it is a romantic language and shares similar inflections with the Spanish language, I do understand some, and I mean some, of it. Just words here and there...anyway, before I get into a totally random tangent, if you're looking for something different, this is it. Josh Groban does have someone to accompany him and, together, it is fantastic. I thoroughly enjoy the beat and rhythm of this song so I'm not worried about the Italian words (although I do find the language highly fascinating, but I digress).

4. Alejate

"Alejate" is a fantastic song in Spanish. He sings it quite wonderfully and you can understand the words that he sings. Forget having an accent; it's the words that count here! According to one concert I found on YouTube, this song was based on another song by Celine Dion. I don't remember all the details, but Josh turned that song into "Alejate." Alejate, in Spanish, is the command form of alejar. Alejar, in Spanish, means to 'move away.' How about that, my dear readers? If anybody wants to try out their Spanish, this song and "Si Volviera Mas" are good songs to practice with. "Si Volviera Mas" is another good song by the way but that is a different story for another time.

5. For Always

"For Always" by Josh Groban...hmm. I think this is a good song just because he can carry all of the notes. No. Seriously, though, you can feel the passion he puts into this particular song. His voice alone, which is so very powerful, is very captivating. According to the in-concert CD that I got, this song was part of a soundtrack found on the movie "Artificial Intelligence." I highly recommend this song. I think it tells a very powerful story, but I'll leave that alone for the time being.

What can I say, readers? I'm hooked on Josh Groban. For those who have never heard him sing before, I can almost guarantee you'll be as hooked as I am.
